The Schoolhouse Gallery is pleased to feature a canvas gallery-wrapped print (30″h x 84″w) of Dave Jusseaume’s “Fall’s Floor”, originally a mixed-media painting.

As a lifelong fisherman and hunter, Jusseaume has found the natural world fascinating, and has directed his artistic attention toward the rivers and forests of New England. After studying at the Sudbury School of Art, New England School of Art  and the Museum School of Art in Boston, he lived and worked throughout New England, using these places to form his artistic sensibilities.

“The colors in the woods, the interplay of light and darkness, the way light and shadow bounce off the surface of a stream always fascinated me,” he said. “In painting nature, I tried to capture these relationships, at first doing representational work, then eventually I incorporated abstract elements, even surrealism…sometimes all in the same painting.”

Most recently, Jusseaume has found inspiration in the Carrabassett River and its watershed. Lately, he expanded his technique in combining oil and watercolor, pencil, colored pencil, magic marker, even cutouts from other sources, to create multi-media pieces which transcend traditional dimensions of space and content.

During the month of October, Dave Jusseaume’s work will be displayed at the Carrabassett Valley Library. An artist’s reception will be held on October 18 4:30-6 p.m.
